Cleaning and Maintaining Your Sandicast Sculptures
CLEANING DIRTY SCULPTURES
Regularly dust your Sandicast animals with a broad, dry, soft paintbrush to
keep them looking happy and healthy. To wash your Sandicast sculptures,
slightly dampen a terry towel with water and gently wipe them. For white
sculptures or white portions of sculptures you may add a small amount of
mild colorless soap to the water before dampening the towel, but be very
careful to avoid any shaded, painted areas. Another option is to use is
any acrylic floor wax mixed two parts water to one part floor wax and
applied using a spray bottle or paintbrush. Please note that the acrylic
floor wax has a mild solvent in it, which loosens the dirt, and then the
wax returns some of the production sheen. It is important for the water
to thin the wax out so the sculpture doesn't get too shiny.
REPAIRING BROKEN SCULPTURES
Repairing chips can be done by texturing the hairline with the end of an
open paper clip. For best results with large chips lightly file the area
first with an emery board then etch the hairline with the paperclip. To
glue broken parts or to fill gaps together, the best thing to use is
super glue, super bonder or 5-minute epoxy.
PAINTING SCULPTURES
Touch ups to the colored areas of the sculpture and restoring some minor
nicks and scratches can be done by lightly dabbing with felt tip markers or
pens, art paints or magic markers until the color blends.
